The University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, in partnership with The University of Toronto Mississauga and the Government of Ontario, launched the innovative new program "Pathways to Employment in Biotechnology", which began in January 2010.

The "Pathways to Employment in Biotechnology" program offers university-level training in biotechnology fundamentals and Canadian workplace culture and communications to internationally educated professionals with backgrounds in fields such as chemistry, biology, bio-chemistry, medicine and related engineering topics. This program prepares life science professionals to work in Canada at levels commensurate with their education and experience.

Specific program components include:

  • Approximately 90 hours of instruction in areas such as biotech essentials, Canadian workplace culture and communication training, and career development.
  • A Certificate in Canadian Biotechnology Enterprise.
  • Individual credential assessments.
  • Participation in a leading-edge university series.
  • Exposure to biotech companies.
